  6. One of the advantages of KP compared to other typing tutors is that KP 
  7. provides alternative courses and text samples, and convenient ways for you add  
  8. your favourite course or text samples to the KP system. 
  9.  
  10. Here is the descriptions of those samples text files supplied with this typing  
  11. tutor package.

  13. kp.txt               some office and scientific text 
  14.  
  15. kpcourse.txt         A course file for QWERTY keyboard. 
  16. course2.txt          A longer version of πkpcourse.txtΣ. 
  17. course3.txt          A course with style different from the above 
  18. coursed.txt          A course for Dvorak keyboard 
  19.  
  20. The default course using "kpcourse.txt" is shorter. This is based on the 
  21. assumption that most of the learners that can use a computer are very familiar 
  22. with the keyboard in various degrees, some can even type fairly fast but only 
  23. can not touch type. You might choose a course much shorter or longer according 
  24. to the situations of you or your students.

  26. If you happen to be a network manager of a windows environment, you might  
  27. produce several program icons to start various π*.batΣ files that indicate  
  28. various practice styles. Please notice that Ms-window contain a Dvorak 
  29. keyboard driver, you must install it previously. Some vendors also provides 
  30. the  
  31. Dvorak keyboard driver for DOS environment.

  33. KP provides two keyboard template styles each for the UK keyboard and the  
  34. US keyboard. If you want to modify the color of the keyboard template, please  
  35. refer to document "readme.2nd".

  37. If none of the keyboards template files listed support the keyboards in your  
  38. country, you are encouraged to produce one. For more details, please read  
  39. "readme3.txt".

  41. As mentioned in "readme.txt", KP is also useful for typing competition.

  43. Since the goal of KP is to provide more flexible and convenient ways for  
  44. people with various characteristics and experience to learn to type quickly,  
  45. your comments are important to improve the efficiency of KP for learning and  
  46. teaching.
